Managed Print Service Cost Comparison
Businesses Beware!
People are calling into businesses saying that they will install a Managed Print Service at a rate of 1 cent per page (or less) and that it will save You a fortune. That sounds great but is it correct?
When some people hear this and think their present printing service is costing them much more than this then they jump at this proposal without getting a Cost Comparison done.
Why should you get a cost comparison done?
J MAC recommend you need a cost comparison because the 1 cent per page does not include the Capital Expenditure that will be paid to get the Managed Print Service installed.
See the following example:
- You install a Mono (black print only) Machine that costs €1,000 (Managed Print)
- 1* cent per page is the service charge (say over 3 years to cover all services and toner)
- Print 100,000 pages in 3 years which comes to €1,000 (1 cent per page)
- Add the Capital cost of the machine = €1,000/100,000 (1 cent per page, bringing your overall cost per page to 2 cent)
- If you only printed 50,000 pages then the cost is 3 cent per page etc.
In order to find out if there is a saving – carry out a TOTAL COST COMPARISON on your present costs versus a Managed Print Service.
So when people come to you with managed print services offering “1 cent per page” deals, take NOTE and get a proper Cost Comparison report first.
1* cent is normally 6-7 cent/page.
